Tandem FAQ: FAQ

AM I TOO OLD OR TOO YOUNG TO JUMP?

There is no user age limit to jump, as long as you are reasonably fit and healthy then you should be OK to tandem skydive with us. On the day you’ll need to declare your fitness by signing a declaration form. This form is included in your action pack sent out on booking your skydive.

You need to be at least 16 to do a tandem skydive, if you are aged between 16 and 18 you will need a parent or legal guardian to sign to give their consent. This form is also included in your action pack.

DO I WEIGH TOO MUCH TO JUMP?

Weight-wise 15 stone or under is the general rule but if you’re reasonably fit and under 18 stone we are happy for you to jump with us. However, just like every other jumper you will be assessed by a highly qualified tandem master on the day of your jump, should he have any concerns about your ability to manoeuvre into any of the required skydiving positions you will not be able to jump.

I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION - CAN I STILL SKYDIVE?

Before anyone can skydive with us they need to sign a medical declaration form, British Skydiving Medical Form 115A.  if you have any medical conditions listed on this form and cannot sign it, you must consult your GP to sign and stamp the British Skydiving Medical Form 115B. If you have purchased a tandem skydive or a tandem skydive voucher and your GP / the voucher recipients GP is not happy for you to jump we will issue a full refund. If you have any further questions relating to the form please call me.

WHAT SHALL I WEAR?

We’ll supply you with a jumpsuit, goggles and a leather hat for your tandem skydive or maybe ditch the hat and goggles for a pair of sunnies if jumping with us in Portugal or Spain. In addition you’ll need to wear trainers or similar sturdy footwear and comfortable clothes. If you are jumping outside of the high summer months or it’s a cool day ensure wearing some nice warm layers and some gloves.

CAN I BRING MY FAMILY, FRIENDS OR PETS?

Spectators are welcome, however dogs are not permitted on the airfield.

Many of our skydiving customers bring their families and friends along to watch.  If you have young children, they must be supervised at all times.
Please do not bring your dog with you to the dropzone.

WILL I NEED INSURANCE FOR MY TANDEM SKYDIVE?

3rd party insurance is included in the cost of the skydive. If you require Personal Accident insurance cover, you will need to arrange this yourself.

I WEAR GLASSES / CONTACT LENSES. WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM?

No. Goggles to fit over glasses will be provided, and these will securely retain your glasses in place. Goggles will also protect contact lenses and prevent them from being displaced.

IS IT SCARY?

You wouldn’t be human if you weren’t a little bit scared. Tandem skydiving will definitely get the adrenalin flowing. Our advice though is to embrace the fear and enjoy the experience.

HOW FAST WILL I BE FALLING WHEN IN FREE FALL?

Approximately 120 miles an hour.

CAN YOU BREATHE IN FREE FALL?

Yes you can! Very rarely a 1st time skydiver will have difficulty catching their breath.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS UNSUITABLE ON THE DAY?

Skydiving is weather dependant. Good visibility and broken cloud is required. The base of the cloud must be no lower than the opening height of the parachute. The maximum wind speeds for tandems is 20 knots. If you are unable to jump as a result of poor weather, we will rearrange a new date which is mutually convenient.
