AFF FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT TO SKYDIVE?

If you are fit and healthy there is no weight restriction, however the kit we use does have weight restrictions. Bigger kit is available but please call me before booking if you are over 15 stone to check availability.

IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM AGE TO SKYDIVE?

For learning to solo skydive the minimum age is 16 years and the maximum age is 55 years. If you are aged between 16 and 18 you must obtain a parent or guardians consent, see BS form 106 (Parental Consent). However if you are over 55 but have completed some form of skydive related training in the past it may still be possible to teach you. Please call me to discus options.

WHY SHOULD I HAVE A BS (BRITISH SKYDIVING) INSTRUCTOR?

If you do not have a BS instructor you cannot be awarded UK qualifications. Many other countries have a qualifying system that does not have the same requirement as ours and we have some British instructors who do not hold UK qualifications for various reasons. One of the big problems in the industry is foreign qualified instructors advertising for UK students.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS?

Packing instruction is given throughout your training, however to make best use of the good weather it can sometimes be beneficial to pay for packing at £5 per pack job.
All students are required to have membership of the British Skydiving and as part of their course fee we will ensure they are issued with a Provisional membership. Full BS membership is required from Level 2 onwards and costs approximately £125.00 per year on a downwards sliding scale from 1st April.

I'M JUMPING WITH YOU IN PORTUGAL HOW DO I KNOW WHAT FLIGHT TO BOOK?

We organise all the flights and try to all meet at the airport and fly together as a group. However the flight prices do vary, currently fluctuating between £30-£120 each way, for this reason we do not include this in the price of the course.
Once the group is finalised we will give you flight details to book

WHY DO YOU RUN YOUR COURSES ABROAD?

As a student parachutist the weather restrictions allowing you to jump are very tight, we find training in calmer warmer climates helps get the course completed quicker. You are not only completing a skydive course but also an adventure/holiday where you will meet friends for life, previous students tag along time and time again to progress their skills, check out our Facebook and Instagram pictures.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

We provide you with goggles, headgear and a jumpsuit to go over your clothes for your first skydive. It is advisable to wear loose fitting comfortable clothes, and l;ayers are advisable as you can always add or remove them.
Flat soled shoes or trainers should be worn.
Slip-on shoes, heels and boots with eyelet hooks are not suitable.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T COMPLETE THE AFF COURSE DURING MY TRIP?

Your credit will remain on account with us and you can return to finish of the course. Please note if there is a long period of time during which time you have not jumped then, for your own safety, you may need to repeat a level or undergo further training – these ‘currency’ requirements will be outlined in your AFF course manual.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I COMPLETE THE COURSE?

Once you have completed the 8 AFF levels you must make a further 10 solo jumps called consolidation jumps to gain the BPA (British Parachute Association) Category 8 and at the same time the international FAI (Federation Aeronautique International) A Licence. This is like getting your driving licence where you would be free to arrive at any club and conduct yourself safely in a solo free fall. As you have trained with GForce you are also welcome on any further trips at no extra cost to fine tune your skills.
